Hi!
I’m Kathie Stritch and I founded this site and community in 2020. In the height of the global pandemic and with most of our interactions going online, I struggled to find an outlet or community to share my thoughts on grief, to hear others stories and to get support when needed.
And so I just set this up on a whim.
Little did I realise the outpouring of support of the project there would be. Almost instantly the inbox was flooded with people lost and alone in their grief…recent and not so recent alike.
They wanted to talk to so that’s when I started the lives on Instagram. To start the conversations. So that those listening would feel less alone, feel supported and informed. Those supporting others or anticipating Grief would also feel equipped or prepared somewhat for what’s ahead.
Those speaking could finally get a huge weight off and speak their story whilst also keeping their loved ones memory alive!
In 2015 my brother in law lost his life tragically and unexpectedly, less than 18 months later his wife, my beloved big sister Elaine also died following an aggressive Brain tumour diagnosis
They had two small children together, my nephews, they were 3 and 6 when their mom passed.
My life has always danced alongside grief ever since then and it’s something I fully recognise and don’t turn my back on.
My mission is to of course remember my loved ones and keep their memory alive.
To connect and support others.
To educate and give others a voice.
To remove the silence and stigma oftentimes associated with Grief.
The community continues to grow daily. We have now evolved to hosting multiple Grief Workshops and Grief retreat weekends that have helped hundred of people to feel less alone, to grieve, to take time and space to heal in a safe environment.
